Subject: You are basing everything off of a couple of cherry picked texts released by someone with an agenda. As long as judges have schools or work as vendors there will be conflicts of interest
In reply to: eye roll 's message, "If that's what you believe why are you participating? You must be ok with cheating then? Great example for your offspring." on 13:34:22 02/13/24 Tue

Those messages are from just one phone. I’m not naive. There’s many more phones out there. Imagine if you had the phones of each of the people that were sending messages to KB, how many more messages like those you would find.

People also talk in person. I’ve heard about dancer numbers being written on cocktail napkins and slipped to judges. A teacher might post pictures of their dancers on social media and then let their judge friend know to look at their page. Certain judges get invited to judge at certain feises in exchange for that little extra look at majors.. As long as there’s influence and money involved there is always a high chance of cheating.

The top dancers tend to rise to the top. There may be some movement up and down by a couple of spots but if your dancer barely qualified for worlds, chances are they won’t be on the podium and you’re going for the experience and a fun trip. The rotating panel also helps to keep things more in line but I agree that there needs to more changes made. The Irish dance world changes very slowly though and I wouldn’t be surprised if changes aren’t made until long after my dancer retires.

My dancer keeps dancing for fun but we also are very pragmatic and know that this isn’t going to pay for college, it’s not going to be their career and it’s a very subjective sport. They compete because they love to dance but they’ve also been taught that life isn’t always fair and there will always be someone better connected than you, someone more talented than you, and someone with more money than you and that it’s important to do your best but to also be prepared to deal with when your best isn’t good enough. I think that is a great example for my offspring and will set them up to to be resilient and successful later on in life.
