Has anyone made alterations to the skirt on a solo? My dancer needs more space in the hips/bum, which would mean altering the skirt. What's with the wristbands for Oireachtas? A larger family with multiple dancers wants to save a little bit of money by staying off site. That makes sense because dance is expensive, and traveling is even worse! But now an alternate location is not a real option because you get 4 wristbands per room, and extra wristbands are $100 per person per day. You can't leave the kids and forgo a day of wristbands because they are kids. So now you have to get 2 rooms (even though the website says they sleep 6) since the extra wristbands are the cost of a room. Also, the Grand has 744 guest rooms. Hopefully we negotiated to get all of them, because it's going to be insanely expensive if you sign in at 9:15 and all the rooms are gone! Oh!! But you can only get one room for your family of 6, even though we just learned that you need two rooms since the cap is 4!

This is insane. Why are we doing this to our children? The Marge Simpson look is ridiculous, everyone knows it. They're expected to dance perfectly with a tower of fake hair, pins, spongy donuts and poodle socks underneath to give that stacked appearance.

Boys and men don't have to bother with any of this to dance and place. Nor do they have the outrageous expense of dresses, tanning, make up, etc.

If girls don't adhere, they know their chances are reduced of placement, even though they have hope the judges are only looking at their dancing ability, technique, timing.

Am I alone here?

The syllabus for the St. Ambrose Fall Feis and the City of Angels Feis are now available.

On-line entries are also now available.

Saint Ambrose Fall Feis (September 30)

Note: Teams are registered for Saint Ambrose Fall Feis, but will be danced first thing on Sunday morning.

City of Angels Feis (October 1)

Entries must be made and paid no later than September 15.

This 30th Anniversary feis is going to be special! How often can your dancer attend a feis that's been going for 30 years?

Celtic Steps Arizona will be hosting a feis this September in Chandler (suburb of Phoenix) Arizona. Entries and tabulation will be through feisworx. Feis hotel rate is $129/night including tax. Wonderful hotel with pool just outside the dance space, still lovely and warm in Arizona in September.
Discounted golf packages available as well. More info will be up on feisworx soon

I'm a TCRG and have done professional makeup for a living for over 20 years. My specialty is makeup for "glam" sports that require a polished, glamorous, and tasteful look, while withstanding sweat, heat, stage lights, sunlight, water, etc. Think Irish dance, golf, figure skating, synchronized swimming, etc.

I would love to help your dancer look her very best at NAN's, and am always happy to consult with your teachers to make sure we're all on the same page, if you wish!
