On two different occasions, my teacher Mrs. Dorsey paddled me. The students including me, loved Mrs. Dorsey. She was one of those "second mother" types. She had a really sweet nature, she was always giving hugs, she brought treats for us every and would give us basically a second recess in the classroom on Fridays afternoons to play and enjoy the treats she brought. The one bad thing about her, if you want to call it that, was she would spank you without question right in front of the class if you misbehaved. She would give you one warning telling you, "I'm going to turn you across my checkered apron if you don't behave." Which by the way, she didn't wear an apron, that was just her cute little warning. She kept a chair in front of the classroom dead center that she sat in when she was giving lessons or reading to us to bring herself down to us instead of us having to look up at her. Which made her easier to communicate with especially for kids who were more bashful. Also, that's where you had to go when you got in trouble. After your one warning, if the behavior you were called out on wasn't corrected, she would get her paddle, which was one of the Fly-Back paddles with the rubber band and staple removed that was painted red. Then she would call you up to her chair and she would sit down. She would discuss what you had done at eye level with you, without raising her voice or even sounding stern. After she finished discussing it with you, she pulled your pants down or dress/skirt up then turn you over her knee. She normally gave you ten smacks across your underwear covered butt. Provided you were wearing underwear. There was one boy who got spanked and was going "commando" so we saw him get a bare bottom paddling. As spankings go, it stung a little but it certainly wasn't what you could consider bad. After the spanking, If you didn't do it yourself, she would pull your pants up and would take a moment to talk to you and comfort you usually giving you a warm hug after, then she would send you back to your seat. She would sometimes depending on what you did, give you a note to take home. I got two spankings from her and her little red paddle. She was still one of my favorite teachers. When my little sister was getting ready to start school, she ended up having Mrs. Dorsey. She was terrified with the thought of going to school so Mom took her to meet her before school started and had me come along too so she could see how much I liked her. I was getting ready to start fifth grade then. The first thing Mrs. Dorsey did when we walked in the room was come up to me and give me a big hug. Then she sat in her chair in front of the class room and started talking to my mom and sister. Karen was still scared of her and started to cry, so Mrs. Dorsey had me come back over and pull up a chair to sit beside her. She put her arm around me and hugged me again and Mom started telling Karen, "See, Gary really loves Mrs. Dorsey and she spoke up and said and I love him too. I love all my kids. She put her hand out to Karen and she took her hand and walked up to Mrs. Dorsey who hugged her and kissed her on top of the head. When she cuddled up to her, I said, "See Karen, she's really nice." As she warmed up to her and stared talking to her. I had to be the big brother and say, "You gotta be careful though, because if you're bad in class, Mrs. Dorsey will turn you over her checkered apron." Mrs. Dorsey frowned at me and said, "Gary, stop teasing your little sister or I'll turn YOU across my checkered apron." That made my sister laugh. She ended up loving Mrs. Dorsey even though she ended up getting a spanking from her once too. So she was the first person to spank me with any kind of implement. My Grandmother was the second giving me a spanking with a flyswatter when I was at her house. She made me drop em and bend over the bed and tanned my butt good.
