When Momma gave a spanking by hand it was hard and fast. I never really tried to count the smacks. It was almost like she was clapping except she was clapping her right hand against your bare bottom instead of her other hand. She was also very thorough. By the time she finished, your entire butt was red and I mean red as a Coke can and felt like it was on fire. On the times she used the hairbrush, the smacks were slower. I watched her spank my brother, sister and my friend Ramona with the hairbrush. She would literally snap her wrist with each swat. The only times she spanked me that where I ever had bruising, were a few times, where she spanked me after I had been paddled at school. Like the time I got three licks from my Gym Coach in Seventh Grade for fighting. We were in our Gym Uniforms (which I dearly hated). She made us each stand and bend over and grab our ankles and gave us each three hard licks. Our uniforms rode up a little in the back and we each had a little bit of cheek showing. She lit us up good. Then we had take a note home after. She got the hairbrush and we went to the living room. When I pulled my jeans and panties down and lay across her lap, she made a comment that I had a little bruise on my butt. She touched it and while it was a little sensitive, it didn't hurt. So she but the hairbrush down and spanked me by hand instead. It did make the bruising just a little bit easier to see but it wasn't too bad.

My Aunt Connie was DANGEROUS with a flyswatter. Just kidding of course. But she really knew how to light up a bare butt. It was one of the thick plastic ones with a wire handle that was as thick as an old metal clothes hanger. While newer swatters are pretty flimsy, this one was thick and stiff. But even with us dancing around whenever she gave one (or more) of us a whipping with it, I never saw or felt her hitting us with the wire part of it. She would snap that mesh across your bare skin and it would start turning red pretty quick. I heard someone else on this forum, I think it was Gary Steven, describe the pain of a flyswatter being a lot like a sunburn. In fact, a couple of times she got ahold of me and my Cousin Cassie, we had a bit of a sunburn going from being outside all day. It's funny but the color and the pain from the flyswatter was pretty much the same as the sunburn. It literally looked like we could have been outside with our pants down in back all day. The good news though, the burning from the flyswatter didn't last quite as long as the sunburn. But for at least a few hours, it was pretty painful.
