 When we first started, my husband used a flat piece of wood with no handle to paddle me. He later cut a handle on it, sanded it, and put a coat of stain/finish on it. He still has the paddle, but also two others that he baught, a large flat hairbrush and a bath brush. The bath brush rarely gets used, and is for very serious spankings.

He has considered trying a strap/belt, and even a dowel/cane, but since he prefers to spank me OTK, and rapidly, the short paddles/brushes are more useful. I like this too. Although I hate when the spankings happen (and scream/genuinely cry), I prefer the unbearable sensation of flat wood paddles.
