Many aspects of discipline and spanking are sexual and, for some people, the most sexual thing is that it is actual punishment. Shame and embarrassment can cause arousal. Being super vulnerable under a dominant controlling authority can be exciting. Your partner can be more attractive when they show strength and caring when they discipline you. The buttocks can be an erogenous zone, even if the pain at the moment is too much to enjoy. All these things are possible.

Imagine DD without spanking or other undignified forms of punishment, or only using positive reinforcement to motivate? Pretty boring, I think.
