CHAPTER 11
Aubbress grinned, and then spouted off the next part of the rhyme, "Then sweet incense you must burn, to appease the great ones wrath." She frowned at Revin, "You did bring the incense, didn't you?" Revin held a paw over his eyes, as he groaned, "Oh no, I thought you did!" Tarrow quickly got a small silver case out of her pack, and stepped in before Revin and Aubbress decided to kill each other, "Don't worry, I brought it." Both squirrels breathed a sigh of relief. Revin carefuly put the case on the the dirt path, when he opened the lid, a sweet fragrence wafted out. Aubbress knelt down and put flint to tinder. Tarrow took a small stick and set fire to the end of it, then she held it over the opened case. The wonderful smell flitted about on the breeze. Somewhere off the path, a dark shape slid to the ground unseen of the travelers, enchanted by the scent. Revin put out the fire, and stood up, "We should keep the incense with us, it might prove useful." How how right he was.

Senetta sat in the high boughs of a rowan tree, thinking about her adopted sister, Aubbressia. She sighed, "I know that she didn't have time to say goodbye, but..." her voice trailed off as she felt the branches slightly move, suddenly a small head, and red bushy tail appeared. It was her best friend, a gray squirrel named Ashe Oakflame. He sat down beside her, "It's a nice day isn't it?" Senetta nodded, "Aye, so 'tis. Do want to bother Friar Derral about lunch?" Ashe laughed, "Haha, no, I think he already has enough trouble, hahaha, look!" Senetta looked where he was pointing and burst into spasms of giggles, "Oh, aheeheehee, that crowd of dibbuns is about to sm.. sm.. hahahaha, smother him!" Ashe held his sides, and managed to gasp out, "We're dibbuns still, want to join them?" Senetta giggled so hard that she almost fell out of the tree, "I think, heeheehee hahahaho, that if we di.. di.. ahahaha, did join them, whoohoohooha, I would die of laughter! Hehehe!!" Ashe was the first to finally stop laughing, he patted Senetta on the back until she had calmed down. No one noticed that he did it with extreme gentleness, as if she might break if he patted to hard.

Suddenly something caused Aubbress to stop, Revin bumped into her, and Tarrow bumped into him. When they had picked themselves up, Tarrow spoke, "Aubbress matey, why'd ye stop?" Aubbress explained, "The rhyme says to go down this path 'til we come to a river, well how are we going to sail down that river if we don't have a boat?" Revin sat back down on the ground again, "Why didn't I think of that? We deffinatly need a boat." Tarrow frowned, "But we can't go back mates, the folks back at Redwall are countin' on us." Aubbress put on a brave face, "Well then, we venture on, and risk getting stuck without a boat, that's better than going back!" So they continued to walk, ever closer to the river.

Since there was literally no sun, the three friends pressed on, rarely stopping to rest. The temperature was nice and cool, so they didn't have to drink water often. The only noise was the sound of them making their way up the trail. Suddenly Revin held up a paw for silence, cocking his head to one side, he listened intently. Finally he broke the good news to Aubbress and Tarrow, "I can hear water running!" Tarrow stared, "Are you sure?" Aubbress found her tongue, and she playfully kicked the ottermaids footpaw, "Of course he's sure." She looked around her, Tarro and Revin had already begun running up the next hill, "Hey wait for me!" They stopped at the top. Aubbress gasped, "It... It's beautiful!!" Revin and Tarrow nodded wordlessly. Below them flowed a wide river, on both sides of it were flowery meadows. Revin spoke softly to himself, but Tarrow and Aubbress heard him, "So, we have come to the river at the end of the path."
