I've started another story! This time it's Redwall so here goes!
The moon, in all it's glory spread it's wings as if waking from a long sleep. Shafts of silvery moonlight shone bravely into the small area of woodland below. The trees shone as if been tainted by some powerful magic making then come alive. There was a gentle breeze, betrayed only by the soft rustling of leaves on the ground below. The wild flowers closed all their doors to the world and swayed to and fro as if dancing to a merry tune played by the wind.
A young vixen, known only by her first name as Varsa disturbed the quiet atmosphere, trundling through the woodlands followed by a pack of blood thirsty vermin. The front runners were covering ground quickly and the vixen knew it was only a matter of time before they caught her.
How did I get into this mess?
That question had been playing on her mind for a while.
The front runners were getting closer, one held a dagger in one paw, it's blade glinting dangerously. As he was about to throw it an arrow found it's home embedded in his chest. The vermin stood still, afraid that if they moved they too would become targets. There was a long silence. All that could be heard was the soft murmuring of the trees as they exchanged pleasantries with the wind. A voice called out amongst the trees, "Hey you, vermin. Be on your way."
They needed no second bidding, the pack disappeared.
Varsa stood motionless as the squirrels leapt down from their hiding places. They were all strong warriors with their tribal tattoo stamped on their right arm. They looked a fierce sight. They advanced towards her warily. Her eyes closed expecting her young life to end it's journey.
The squirrel circled Varsa, making sure she was not armed and seeing what kind of beast he had before him. She suddenly shivered, cold waves running up and down her body. He smiled towards her and extended a claw, "The name's Aronwood, and this..." he pointed behind him, "This is my tribe, the Oak tribe. You have heard of us?"
A scream welled up in Varsa's throat but found no escape. The Oak tribe would normally kill vermin on sight, why not her? How could Aronwood be so casual so friendly? Even his tribe looked uncomfortable, shifting their feet from side to side, looking to the floor. Vermin=evil. That's what they were thinking. Aronwood smiled baring his sparkling white teeth. "You are no enemy to us, I know that for sure. Why were those scoundrels chasing you?"
She remained silent, her eyes searched the area for an escape route. There was none, the tribe had made sure of that.
"I think we should get rid of 'er!" A voice called out, it was Saptree. Aronwood silenced him with a glare.
"We'll take you to Redwall." he said, "You'll be safe there. You heard of the great Abbey before?
She nodded. Redwall, what a beautiful name. Somewhere where peace prevailed and above all, she would be safe and far away from them.......
