It was amazing - when they were kids and had nothing but their supportive families and dreams bigger than the world itself, things had been so good. But now that they both had more successes than they had ever imagined, they had more insecurities and vices and dysfunction than one would have thought possible. Sometimes he felt like he had gone to bed a kid who just wanted to play guitar and woken up a celebrity user who played guitar because it gave him an identity.

Her eyes felt suspiciously wet and she still wasn't quite sure why but it was obvious as she blinked against his neck and the moisture seeped onto his warm skin that she in, or close to being in, tears.
