The Great Hall

At the Castle

Noise from the hall may be heard from some distance, the sounds of revelry and merrymaking evident. Upon your approach, the door is flung wide and you are greeted with the scene of all the castle's inhabitants eating, drinking, and making merry. Excellent food and a warm mug of mead or cold ale await you, should you choose to join them.

Lady Meriel strode silently across the stone walk of the great hall. Her green velvet skirts rustled against the ground as she moved, and her dark eyes roved the walls in eager curiousity. The Welsh Lady, who had never before been outside the border of her lands, she was fastinated with Camelot in all its beauty and glory.

A faint smile crossed her pert lips. She had such plans and visions for her time here. Her echoing thoughts would not quiet as she silently took a seat.

His dark eyes scan the Great Hall, his uneasiness articulately displayed as he constantly shifts his weight from one foot to another. His bushy brows furrow, as he does not spot the Queen, with her crown, anywhere in the room. He wonders if CuChulainn should be with him, or Bel'Khalyn. Nervously he cracks his knuckles, and absently begins pacing, not really paying attention to the others in the room. He was sure Hellion was feeling quite content in the stables, so why coudln't he feel such?

Reaching the stables, she brushes Ionn down thouroughly, and saddles him, patting his neck as she leads him into the courtyard.
She swings upward into the saddle, the ebony stallion side-stepping slightly, hooves clattering on the cobbles as he anticipiates the excitement of a night-ride.

Stepping forward, the cloaked woman bows her head in a gesture of respect to the new Queen of Camelot. Yet she raises her head from the vulnerable position, wary among so many others, lifting her gaze to defiantly meet that of the queen.

"Your highness, as a master bow-woman within your kingdom of Camelot, I offer my services to you while under thy reign,"

From under her cloak, she produces a fine, polished arrow. Though made of a simple wood, the shaft is elaborately carved with runes, the tip sharp and fire-hardend, the tail holding the small and delicate feathers of a falcon.
She holds it length-wise,on her finger-tips, streching her arms forward in solemn offering.

I have added a new rule, one that is already in place in Arabian Knights, affecting the usage of titles (King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Count, Countess, Baron, Knight, etc.) . I have restricted the usage of titles in this game to people who have earned them in this game. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but some people have worked very hard for their titles, and it defeats the purpose if anyone can claim them. I am truly sorry, and I hate to jerk people around, but this game bases too much on titles and professions to have them up for grabs...

I am sick of this contest dragging on forever, and I am not able to put together the mock battle. Sorry, but I just can't think of how to make it work. So, here are the list of all the contests:

1) Ten laws... I have these from everyone
2) Proclamation... I have two
3) Creative Story... I want each of you to write a short story, set in this land. I want this to be original, no plagarism! Create a character, and write a story about them. Simple.
4) Poem... I want a short poem from each of you... no haiku, and it has to be original. Preferably something medieval. I don't want 10 pages of poetry, just something sweet.
5) RPG interaction... this will test your RP skills. I will give each of you a character, with a profile, with strengths and weaknesses, and you must all play that character. Last and final contest.

The way we will judge these: I want you all to judge each other's work. Be fair, as everyone will be grading your work as harshly as you grade yours.
I will have a poll up soon, so you can all vote on the 10 laws. Hope this isn't confusing... Post the poems and stories and proclamations when finished, and I will let you all know about the RP test.

The Camelot Cult

Once upon a time, in this very city of ours, a cult of gypsies did exist. It was said that one gypsy, Alainpis, was to set them free from the traditional raids and executions of gypsies, that took place in those times.

But 'alas, 'twas not to be, here is the story of Alainpis.

Alainpis was young, she would have only been of fourteen years when the witches of the cult came to her and said it was time for her to save them. So, with the little training that she did have, she set out, to save the cult.

By night, she sneaked around the city, gathering what information she could, and attacking troops, by day, she would seek sanctuary in the church, as none could kill or kidnap there.

'Twas on a black friday's full moon that Alainpis was caught. The cult believed that if any night would kill Alainpis, it would be this night, though Alainpis still went on.

Performing a raid on a noble's home, she was caught, trying to steal money for the cult. The next day she was hung in the city center, for all to see what would be the future of gypsies in the city.

The cult knew it was time to move on, if Alainpis had not suceeded, surely none of them would. So the cult left Camelot, breaking up into groups who would go where they would.

Now 'tis not such a sad case for gypsies in Camelot, and they have a fair chance of surviving, but Alainpis and her cult had none, but the girl who was executed in the city center one saturday dawn.

She moves silently into the area, stopping before Morgaine with a mild curtsy, seeming somewhat stiff. She draws a scroll of paper out of her silver/blue cloak, presenting it before her. It read:

Law 1: Peace shall be kept unless for a good cause, the cause must be passed by the Lady Queen herself.

Law 2: War is not to be proclaimed until run past the High Crowns.

Law 3: Death caused by the hand of another will be put upon trial and sentence decided by the High Lord King.

Law 4: Destruction to any of the land from the hand of another shall be put upon trial and sentenced by the High Lord King or Lady Queen

Law 5: Orders sent from the High Lord King or Lady Queen may be questioned if the reason is not presented in the beginning.

Law 6: All faces must be shown before any enter the gates.

Law 7: Disobeying the orders sent by the High Lord King or Lady Queen intentionally will be put on trial and sentenced by a mediator.

Law 8: Frivolous acts of violence will be presented before the Council in order to keep peace.

Law 9: Thieves will not be tolerated to the highest extent, punishment to the extreme

Law 10: Anything not listed as illegal will not be punished in any way, shape nor form.

As the laws were finished, Mistriss Endima gently took the paper back, rolling it to its normal position, the woman tucking it back somewhere in the shining cloak.

I have laws from..... Gwynhyfar, Endima, Alexandra, and Chloe. I need Rea's and Alanas, and than we can judge them.

Endima, the mock battles will happen as soon as I can figure out a way to make it work. I had the idea, but never thought it all the way through, so I still have to figure out a way to fight and a way to evaluate this. Also, I need proclimations from everyone.... Proclimations are such as the following:

"Hark, all ye citizens of Camelot. Our fair city will soon be home to a [place], because of the benevolence of one such woman named [your name]. This [organization] will [goal of organization], and will be managed by [your name]. Everyone is elligible to enter this such [organization]."

Or something such. Please don't use this text. Also, I want you all to actually give the people this gift... it must be within your character's capabilities, so do it. If you want to open a hospital, than open it, and post the link on the updates board. You may create an estate as long as the following conditions are met:

- this is not a personal estate
- there are no rulers in the aforementioned estate (i.e. no Kings, Queens, nobles, etc.)
- the estate is available only to those there for that purpose (i.e. if you opened a hospital, people couldn't stay there just because they wanted to, they had to work there or be a patient).

All boards and pages will be monitored and run by the owner of the estate, meaning, it's up to you. I'm trying to get this to a point where you all run the game and take care of things yourselves, but we're not there yet.

The mock battle is still under construction, but I have a small contest in the meantime.... since you are all competing to be Queen, and the Queen wants what's best for her people, I want each candidate to draft up a list of 10 'laws' she would put in effect were she queen. Make these realistic, no "I will hire an army of 100,000 to protect my city", etc. 'High Style' is a plus.. (High Style is all the thees, thous, forasmuches, etc.). The second part is to create a proclimation in 'High Style' about one gift you would give the land for the betterment of her people. This gift must be something your character is capable of, and must come at a sacrifice of some sort to the character. (i.e. if your character was a healer, she could set up a hospital and train healers..just an idea). Think on it!

PLEASE make these profiles the best they can be! Queens will be 'graded' so to speak on their commandint ability, their rpg ability, among others. You will also be evaluated on the basis of how well you play your character. (i.e. playing the character as they deserve to be played, typing in complete sentences with proper punctuation, etc. Good RPG skills are a must!)

PS> The first test will be a giant mock battle as soon as I get it arranged. Queens with profiles (complete profiles!) may poarticipate. You will command various troops in a giant battle. This is an elimination round for High Queen. Be prepared!

of women who were 'witches', found the young girl, instantly realizing
her true power. She took her to Tar Valon, a great city made by
the Aes Sedai, but open to everyone who dare entered its walls. They
weren't evil, but one had to watch what they said, and everything Aes
Sedai said had a shadow to it, a double side. But Endima was taken
there, to the leader, and was taught by the Queen herself. She could
wield great power, and most felt jealous of that. Endima learned how to
fight, how to wield that power, and how to be a leader, a Queen if you will.
But things got hard for her, other Aes Sedai wishing she would leave the town
and forget everything she was taught, including the Queen, for she had more
power than all of them combined. People made it hard for her to even
walk through the town. So one night, she gathered the one horse that no one
could touch and rode off into the world. From that time on she was never
seen nor heard from, until now. She had changed greatly, seemed 'darker',
though none knew if she was. She was never hurtful, and still isn't, yet she
seems more guarded, perhaps because of the horrid life she had led before...

Here's the deal. I am attempting to run a contest for Queen and King. The question is, should they rule separately or jointly. (i.e. Should the King and Queen possibly be married, or joined in some other fashion? Up to you all). The other thing is, what do they rule? Choices: running just the castle estate; running the whole game; or dividing the game into kingdoms and have a king & queen for each. I was also thinking of re-electing in a month or so, to give everyone a chance. Like I said, it's up to you.
