In reply to: storm 's message, "Im all woman *wiggling her hips*" on 03:32:22 06/14/01 Thu

okay, i have a close male friend who recently got really stuck hard by a female. i wrote him the following email. since we're all women here, tell me if i was just totally whacked when i wrote this, or if what i had to say has some merit. i believe, from my own experiences, that it does. and a lot...

my theory behind the battle of the sexes is that what
men see as manipulative, irrational, argumentative, or
split-personality behavior is nothing of the sort.
we're juxtapositional, not contradictive. yes, two
opposing logics can and DO reside within us side by
side while STILL making perfect sense. there's a
difference between juxtaposition (get your dictionary)
and contradiction.
we're not argumentative. we just insist that men at
least ACKNOWLEDGE that we have our own point of view
and that it's justified. most of the time men blow us
over without realizing it (which is infinitely worse
than doing it on purpose) and we, being our persistent
selves, will not give up until men realize our point
is valid and acknowledge it.
of course, there are always exceptions to the rules,
and there are flat-out harpies in the world. i am not
talking about them.
we are not disgustingly emotional or weak. we are
unafraid to express ourselves to our utmost and
understand the cleansing power behind purging our
negative energy. only after the storm passes (through
tears, or any other sort of healthy outlets for anger
and aggression) can we approach life with a
clear-headed perspective. and that's true for anyone,
not just women.
as for rage/fury and irrationality, i cannot overlook
the fact that we are subject to chemical upheavals
which are more potent than many drugs (legal and
illegal) and against which there is little defense.
much as i'd like to deny it, we are subject to a wild
array of hormones that we have no control over. it's
part and parcel to living in this body that god in his
infinite wisdom and very sick and twisted humor
blessed us with. of course, it is this weakness that
is the core of our very power.
this power is, of course, forbidden knowledge to one
of your gender.
think of it in terms of epics, or myth if you will.
the madman is more often than not the shaman of a
village, the one "touched by the gods" with power
above and beyond that of ordinary people. in his
madness lies the holy man's power. only in this case,
it's woman and her state of constant flux.
true, only women can completely understand women, but
unless you're associating with females that have no
sense of self-awareness (not sentience, but deep
*awareness*) or self-control, this is totally
applicable.
now, if you're dealing with females that do not
understand this about themselves, or those that let
themselves be utterly RULED by this flux, then god
help you. there's no defense against them and i can
understand why you'd let yourself be influenced into
hating all women everywhere because of them. but i
would hope that a man of your caliber can rise above
the harpies of the feminine race and not let yourself
be molded by the unfortunate few.

okay, that's what i wrote. i thought he'd forgotten about this letter or was ignoring it, because it was months before i got a response. however, i think *no* response was better than what i found in my email box yesterday....

You obviously have been reading to many self help books.
Your Neo-femaNazi point of view is not going to escape criticism from this crowd!
Firstly, your logic is a little eschewed. The madman that you speak of is a man and not a woman. By historical records, the women were more often than not burned as witches or heretics.
[my own input here: not all of them were. most were seen as oracles or soothsayers, midwives or the village healer who gave more than just medicinal doctoring.] I can not acknowledge any point of view that lacks rationalization and thought.
These hormones are not a blessing by god, but a punishment enacted by the devil, who as a man, understood the wild behavior of women as a curse upon his fellow brother and acted justly.
There has never been a power held or wielded by women, save sex and with modern technology progressing the way it is, there will shortly be no need for women. You are part of a soon to be obsolete tool created by men, and thus, you can be destroyed by men. Never does history show a woman
with power and influence who was justified in her position save in stories and myths written by women, for women. Do not preach to me any longer, for I grow weary of your weaker sex.

okay, the fact that i was deeply hurt by this last sentence by a very good friend of mine aside....Bitter, table for one?
SHIT! i mean, come on! not only is he way out in left field, but he basically became a male cheuvanists poster boy! and this is a very nice young man who's so sweet and gentle that he always finishes last. you know the type i'm talking about.
dammit.

anyway, i just wanted to share this with you, and get your views on both letters, mine and his. i don't think i was too far off the ball, was i? i believe not.
