this is driving me crazy! burning cd's and what?!!?!? what was that other thing? i'm trying to figure out what it could be...

burning cd's is no problem. all you do is get a cd burner installed into your tower (that's the huge box that has the "on" switch, lol). we have a cd burner and dvd rom. so we can watch movies on our computer. it's so awesome. crisp, clear images and no snow! no stupid white static-y lines slowly moving up the screen like on the vcr.

and yes, hp is hewlett packard. it's just so much faster to say (or spell) hp than h-e-w-l-e-t-t p-a-c-k-a-r-d. lol

black & white is the name of the game, medeis! lol it's not two games, just the name. you play B&W any way you want. you can be black (aka evil and vengeful god) or white (good and gracious). it's not like you have to buy the black version and the white version! :0) just go to your local game store (like best buy, electronics boutique) and look for the game. it'll make sense once you see it. i recommend buying B&W (or any pc game for that matter) at electronics boutique because they have a 10-day return policy. no other store has a policy that lets you return opened pc games once you've bought them. so if you don't like the game, return it to electronics boutique within 10 days for a full refund.

and burning cd's is SO FUN! i have this huge napster collection and i make my own cd's like crazy. and blank cd's are so cheap! like, dirt cheap, and they hold 80 minutes or 700 mb of information. in other words, i can get 80 minutes of music (equal to around 15-18 songs) or fit an entire 2 1/2 hour movie on one cd.

also, if you're going to look for a new computer and you want speed and high quality, intel pentium II's are almost obsolete. you'll need a pentium III processor. they have pentium 4's now, but that's cutting edge in the market.

264 is your RAM (Random Access Memory) and it basically controls your memory. of course, once you install something on your RAM you can't take it off. it's like permanent ink on your favorite silk blouse, lol. so eventually, if you're installing a lot of programs (even if you uninstall them later) you'll have to install more RAM otherwise your computer will stall. we're already having that problem because we download and install so much stuff.

graphics cards control the graphics on your computer. like photos or animations (like on the internet web pages some people have cute little animated icons). especially if you're thinking about getting B&W you'll need a good graphics card because of the state-of-the-art 3D animation it has. otherwise everything will look primitive and blocky. voodoo is just a brand of graphics card. turtle beach is another. it's like you're going to buy a shoe, do you choose nike or reebok? same with voodoo and turtle beach. that's all! :0)

when i was talking about getting 1 gig or better (gig = gH, or "gigahertz") i was talking about the speed at which your computer will process information. 1 gig or better is ungodly fast, and anything less than 1 gig is fast becoming known as "a slow computer." for example, you decide to run your Windows program. you go to your task bar, click the "start" button and your menu pops up. you click "programs" and the programs menu pops up. you click Microsoft Word and then have to wait for it to load. you with me so far? with a normal or slower computer, you have a while to wait for it to load Word. we have a 1.5 gH processor, and we have no load time. i click "Microsoft Word" and voila! it's instantly open and ready to use.
that's what i'm talking about when i talk about speed. just one example. however, with more complex programs you'll begin to notice your processor's speed assimilating information.
and three years old for a computer is old! hell, you have a computer for one year and it's time to upgrade. but hey, let me know what you decide to get (if you buy a new computer, that is!) and i'll email you this article i found in a pc magazine about "tuning up" your computer to keep it running at its finest. you'd tune up a car, wouldn't you? why not your computer as well?

and don't be surprised if a new computer costs you over a grand. we paid $1200 for ours, and that was a steal.

anyways, have fun shopping!

OH! one more thing. unless you want the majority of your programs to fart around and not work properly in the beginning, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT install Windows ME! get Windows '98 until most programs are compatible with ME, and then upgrade. we had SUCH a hell of a time getting everything to work properly because we have ME (Windows Millennium Edition) and not very many things are compatible with it because it's so brand-spanking new. it was such a pain in the ass for a while. just thought i'd let you know!
