I have an idea regarding Sri Yukteswar's astrological speculations.
Suppose someone like him who would enter Cosmic Consciousness and actually "see" by becoming one with the universe these things about which he talked about; about there being a partner star to our sun etc etc. If he were in Cosmic Consciousness and actually experienced this from his own realization, how could he have been wrong about it? The answer may well be that not the concept of it is wrong or miscalculated but rather the dimensions of it, which he attempted to formulate afterward, through researching contemporary astronomical and astrological data.

Ie: To realize the truth of it came from his samadhi. But he got the mathematical part wrong because that he had to figure out through scientific data available at the time which may have been flawed.

Its a lot similar to the story of Sri Ramakrishna. He used to have cosmic ecstacies but when he asked his disciple M to briefly outline a little from his scientific and mathematical knowledge, the saint began to cover his ears and express not only his profound ignorance of it but also his abhorence.

Its funny to think how for him, to isolate and narrow down the simplest of things, his total identity with the Absolute and the worlds' identity with It, to complex mathematical formulae, was capable of producing the reaction of acute discomfort.
