hons Caps is accumulative for certain faculties. yup. In the past it was accumulative for us.. =)
anyway, difference bet hons and masters... for hons, it's only academic, so basically for the whole year, i will be preparing a hypothetical thesis. just like masters student but without design itself. the school has changed its system, the batch after mine will all be getting direct hons in archi and one year masters without internship.
actually most of the architectural schools overseas require an honours year which they call the 4th year with at least a second lower class to be enrolled into their masters degree also 2 years. NUS doesn't need it though. (probably explains why the school sucks in some way. hiak)
i wanted to do hons, cos it will be a year for me to find the field i want to specialise in. Doing masters will just be a generalised degree and going overseas to do it will remain a dream if I don't have hons.. =( In that, after hons, I'll do masters by research so, it is less design based loh. but in anycase, i can still go back and do masters in archi lah.. just that it takes more years...
jieying dear, i have no turning back. I told myself that if I take hons, I'll be studying forever and ever... until one day i get my license and what's not... i will be old and wrinkled like a dry prune. If i just leave with BA(Arch), I'll never be satisfied? or rather leave with regrets.
So the hons year, is really a taste of what thesis is like and a fresh start in a way to do a specialisation in this field, be it urban studies, lighting, acoustics.. blah n blah... or in the end, i might just take longer than normal to do a general masters... =)
it's a life long thing. no turning back...
