Mamusz, it is impossible to accept the above proposition if one is an ecclesiastical politician who perceives that the real money and political power is in superceding ecumenism with religious syncretism. It is the agenda of the Community of Christ that causes it to reject both the above scripture, and the living savior to whom it refers.

A Communist can't accept the statement, "The workman is worthy of his hire." Luke 12:33. The reason it cannot is that modern marxist theory states that an individual deserves only what the government thinks he ought to have, regardless of how much work he does, or how well. The Occupy Wall Street stooges are just another version of the CofC. The Wall Streeters just claim that Jesus is a souped-up Robin Hood, and ignore the fact that Jesus was the One who gave the commandment "Thou shalt not steal" to Moses.

Just as there is no commandment "Thou shalt steal from the rich and give to the poor," there is no commandment, statement, prophecy, or musing that maybe other religions are right, and that maybe Mohammed is as good as Jesus. In plain, "nonparadigmatic" speech, "It ain't there."

And, once again, paradoxically, while denigrating the scriptural statement that Jesus is the only way (which Jesus himself claimed, no less) the CofCers wonder how anyone can claim to be a member of the RLDS faith tradition, and not hang on every word Steve Veazey says as if it were carved in stone on Mt. Sinai by the very finger of God Himself.

If scripture is bogus, so are the authors of scripture. There is no "get out of jail free" card to excuse modern prophets from their latter day errors committed to print, any more than the CofC is willing to excuse St. Paul and others for writing alleged "heresy" into the Biblical text.

The CofC really needs to break with Christianity altogether, and have the prophet start writing his own version of the Koran. The CofC could keep Jesus as a prophet, but then, rejecting the Bible as just another failed attempt to write the CofC "Koran," it could disregard biblical teachings with complete impunity. Then the CofC's relationship to Christianity would be analogous to the Bahai's relationship to Islam.

Who knows? Someday there might be a popular hit tune on the radio, with a fellow with a sitar singing about "preparing to meet Ba'GALA(H) in the garden of Sodom."
