Well, Lois, my people skills are not very good.

However, stupid (but sincere) people sometimes do lie. When their leaders (such as Brother Brigham, or Brother Steve ) tell them that they have to "lie for the Lord" to get things done and keep the Lord's work going. In fact, the Book of Abraham justifies such a lie, reinterpreting as a Divine commandment what the orthodox canonical text of the Bible describes as a human foible. As the CofC becomes more and more like the LDS church in organization and administration, the lying accelerates. The only difference is that the LDS were lying to cover up polygamy, and the CofCers are lying to cover up rampant homosexuality that (in their eyes) is progressing by Divine intention and command.

When one is faithful and wants to do what God says, one is sincere. Unfortunately, sincere people are often sincerely wrong. I am convinced that when Louis Farrakhan says that the white man is the Devil, I am convinced that he believes this. I am also convinced that he is wrong. The CofC's firm positions on theological matters are in territory similar to Brother Louis', and they will prove no less destructive to a Christian society, because they are no less wrong.
