Lois, only people who already believe that the Book of Mormon is a divinely inspired text and that it is absolutely accurate to the point of exceeding the accuracy of Josephus, the New Testament, etc. will be impressed by this.

That is the reason that people who don't believe that the Book of Mormon was divinely produced get any enlightenment from it at all. The baseline requirement for finding anything accurate in the Book of Mormon is to postulate beforehand that it is all accurate.

If the Book of Mormon is deconstructed the way skeptics and apostates in seminaries do the Bible, your observation becomes of no consequence. That is the same reason that the liberals hve persuaded the CofC to go gay. If one does not already believe the scriptures are correct, they will find nothing in the scriptures to convince them of the accuracy and relevance of the text.

The specific example is, of course, that even from the atheistic evolutionary "survival of the fittest" concept, homosexuality is something to be avoided and discouraged. So, you see, even when the scriptures tell these folks the exact same truth that their own secular philosophy teaches, they still refuse to believe it. It represents a complete dysfunction of all logic, reason, and cognition.

I attended an education course yesterday that detailed how the entire country is obese and prediabetic. The physiological breakdown of the nation's population is directly related to the spiritual breakdown -- you are what you eat, and you are what you believe.

When, in his capacity as a patriarch for the Community of Christ, Matt told us that it was absolutely unimportant what anyone actually believed, he was like a corporate propagandist explaining that there is absolutely nothing wrong with mass consumption of high-fructose corn syrup because it doesn't matter what you eat.

In short, Lois, with your kind and well-meaning post, you will fail to connect with most of the readers here, for the same reason that a vendor who puts fresh fruit and bottled water in the vending machines instead of soda pop and milk chocolate will go bankrupt.

George
