(I think it is time to tie in our story with the games. Enter Alia's colleague Gate:)
Signas was troubled about the death of Alia. The young Reploid had a promising future. She was so bright, so intelligent...it just seemed like a horrible thing! So unfair!
Signas left the briefing room. It seemed like he was being torn from one assignment to the next. He had just gone from Lifesaver, to Douglas, to Blade Runner...and without a break in between! Now though, he wanted some time to be alone. He "commed" over to Douglas, and Lifesaver, and told them to give him a break for a few hours. Both responded in a positive manner. These were hard times...
X was missing, and possibly damaged, or dead. Maybe worse...he could have gone Maverick! Zero was also missing, although he was just too busy to contact H.Q. So many turns of events had taken place. What of Sigma then? So many questions. Yet he had barely heard the news a few days ago.
He wanted time to think, and grieve the loss of his friend Alia. He had to restrain his feelings, and take charge.
Now though, when he was alone...he sighed heavily. A human gesture...but it conveyed his feelings. He walked through the halls just thinking about her. Perhaps it was by chance, or perhaps not..but he wandered over to her office. He felt a bit intimidated, perhaps even a little ashamed...but he went inside her office, and let the door slide shut behind him. The lights were off, all but the work light on her desk. Alia liked to be hard at work. On her work table, there was a piece of X's fourth armor suit. Alia had been working on the shoulder plating, trying to make it stronger for X. Signas went over to her desk, and saw some photos in metal frames. Pictures of Alia, and her friends. One of her, X, Zero, Douglas, Lifesaver, and Signas on the left side. On the other side was her next to another Reploid. Signas had never seen him before, but his helmet was purple, and black.
He looked almost similar to X, but had large blue crystals instead of X's red one. The two were in a lab of some kind, and Alia's hair was different. There were names on the lab coats they wore. Signas scanned the image closely. The name on the other's badge said, "GATE".
"Wait a sec...", Signas mumbled. "Gate? I've heard about him. One of her colleagues...I think? I saw him on a news holo." Signas thought about the image of Gate. When the Repliforce set out to create a perfect Utopia, all Reploids were affected. They were torn between Earth, and space. Everyone had to choose a side, Signas remembered. Gate seemed to be on the side of Repliforce...almost. He had made a public appearance on the news networks. He was working on a theory of restoring a Reploids DNA coding. During his opening remarks, he had made a comment about wishing success to Repliforce. Signas wondered. "Could Gate also want a world just for Reploids?" --Then it dawned on him...
"Wait a minute! The conference! He was trying to restore Reploid DNA coding!" Signas grabbed the picture off of Alia's desk. He ran out of her office and headed toward the mission room. He activated his comm-link. "Douglas, can you meet me in the briefing room right now?"
"Signas? What's all this about? What happened to 'leave me alone for a bit?'", Douglas scoffed.
"There's no time to explain, just get over here! I think I may know how we can get Alia back!"
"What? Are you serious?"
"Yes! Go get Lifesaver, and meet me in the briefing room! The three of us are going on a field trip!"
