There wasn't very much NEW about "New Doppler Town." Zero had gone to the original town, with X on that last mission. It seemed very strange that Doppler had come back so quickly, but then...he really didn't seem to be doing anything at the moment.
Zero reflected on his trail so far. He had made good progress getting here, but now what?
Zero had found his way into the city by sewer access. So far, he had only encountered 2 security bots, both of which he destroyed. The rest of the city seemed empty....desterted. It kind of had a creepy feel to it. Zero finally made his way out of the sewers, and on to the streets. His search could take days in this city. He needed to find X, and fast. What he did find was a warehouse. He was near the outskirts, and the seaport. It would only make sense that there be a warehouse or two nearby. It kind of reminded him of the old town's layout. Blast Hornet inhabited the old warehouses. He wondered who Doppler had gotten this time. Still, he went inside the largest one, and was surprised to see activity inside it! Zero hid himself in the catwalks above, and crept along silently. Hundreds of workers stood along assembly lines. They were making parts, or something. Weapons maybe?
A little further down the line, he saw mechs being made. There were familliar models, like the Rabbit mech, being worked on at various stations. He kept looking for something...but didn't know what. Suddenly, a security gaurd crept up on him. The gaurd didn't try to attack him, he was just puzzled. Zero turned around, startled....it was a man!
"Excuse me?", the gaurd asked, "What are you doing up here?"
"Huh?", Zero asked. He was a little surprised to see a human working for Doppler. "Oh, sorry... I'm kind of lost, can you help me?", Zero asked. It would have been different if the gaurd would have attacked him. A reploid most certainly would have, but the man figured that no one would be here unless he was supposed to, so he just ignored Zero mostly.
"What are you looking for?", the man asked.
"I was hoping you could tell me where I might find an information terminal of some kind."
"Well, you won't find it up here!", the man joked.
"No...of course not. I was also looking for the operator of this facility."
"Huh? Oh, you must be looking for my boss!"
"Doctor Doppler?", Zero asked.
"Doppler? Who's that? I was talking about Razor Mantis."
"Oh, sorry. Do you know where he is?", Zero asked. Strange...the gaurd didn't even know who Doppler was!
"Yeah, he's next door inspecting the assembly line. C'mon, I'll take you over to him." , the man said. He was really a nice guy, Zero thought. It reminded him why they were fighting the Mavericks. Nice people still existed in the world.
The man told Zero how Mantis had been hired to do some contract work here. Mantis had mobilized his resources, and taken a highly skilled team with him from his home base in Japan. He also told Zero where he could find a city-link access terminal. From there, he could find almost every piece of information he would need. Zero developed a cover story, saying how he had just arrived, and was looking for his assignment. The gaurd bought it, and offered to help. He took him over to the other warehouse. They were going to see Razor Mantis.
