(RX, nice addition..the tournament idea! I love it...I hope you don't mind if I expand upon it...it gives me a new angle!)
The Human gaurd who had found Zero up on the catwalks had taken him over to Warehouse 17, where his employer Razor Mantis was inspecting the assembly line. Production was in full speed, and Mantis was checking the effeciency level of the workers. The gaurd walked right in with Zero, and told him to wait by the door. He walked over to Mantis. Zero couldn't hear what he said, for the place was full with activity. Machines of all sorts made noises. Mantis made a shrugg type of gesture, and handed the gaurd his data pad. It looked like the gaurd was going to take over, Zero thought. Mantis gave him also the hard hat he was wearing, and came over to meet Zero. Zero quickly decided to use the same cover name he did back on Mars. It was too bad though, that he had forgotten to change into his Black armor suit.
Mantis said above the thrum of machines. "Come with me, it is too loud to talk in here." Zero nodded, and followed Mantis around the factory to a set of stairs which led to his office. Once inside, Mantis shut the door, and it was perfectly quiet. Zero noted as such.
"This office was sound proofed. I like my privacy, and I find in necessary for concentration. Now then, we haven't been properly introduced, my name is Razor Mantis."
"Yeah, uh...your friend told me that. My name is....Zeon."
"Zeon? Wait a sec...you're the famous Maverick Hunter Zero, right?" (Woops, Zero didn't count on that happening!)
"Yeah, alright..it's me."
"So what do you want with me Zero? You're not here to fight me are you? Just because I took a job for Doppler..."
Zero cut him off, "No Mantis...I'd rather not fight you if I can help it. I'm not anxious to draw any attention to myself."
Mantis would have smiled, but he has no mouth. Instead, a face plate covers his vocoder. Still, he made a gesture to convey his feelings.
"Ahhhh! I get it, Doppler doesn't know you're here, does he?" ,Mantis asked.
"No he doesn't."
"Okay fine. Just tell me why you are here. I'll see if I can help you."
"Thanks for being so agreeable."
"Well, you know I admire the Maverick Hunters. I guess I'd have to say I admire you the most. You're one of the few Reploids who has ever died, and lived to tell about it.", Mantis joked.
"My partner, Mega Man X is being held here, do you know where he is?", Zero asked with concern.
"X? Are you sure? I haven't heard anything about that."
"I'm not going to leave the island until I find him."
"Even still," , Mantis started, "You'd be hard pressed to keep a low profile here. I mean if I recognized you, just think what happens if Doppler's goons find you here."
"I can handle myself just find."
"Sorry Zero, I don't doubt your abilities. I mean, you and X have taken down Sigma four times already! I tell you what though, I've seen the kinds of things that Doppler is planning here. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes."
"That brings up a couple of questions."
"Like, why am I working for Doppler?", Mantis asked.
"That's one of them."
"Let's just say he made me an offer I couldn't refuse!"
