Our scene unfolds: New Doppler Town
Currently, we last left Zero as he was hunting down Vile. He had left Razor Mantis' factory in order to follow Vile to the vault where Mega Man X was being kept. He had arrived at the vault too late, not finding either Vile, or the "X-System." --the key to return Mega Man X to normal. Vile had returned to Doppler, who had left him in charge of the island. Doppler had to go play host to the many Reploids who had come here to fight for glory. The fight tournament was about to begin.
Zero was able to find Mega Man X, but he could not remove him from the vault. Not knowing what to do, he called on Mantis for help. Mantis did some inquiring of his own, and was able to get the answers to many of Zero's questions.
Zero learned of Dr. Doppler's plans for X. He also learned about the "X-System" and where it was now being kept.
But even though he was pointed in the right direction, he still had a long way to go.
Zero took up a disuise with the help of Razor Mantis. After a few add-on modifications, he looked more like Double's second form than himself. Yet, he was all decked out in black. He went with his old cover name: "Zeon" in hopes of not attracting too much attention. The day of the tournament came upon him. He knew that there was only one way he would ever see Mega Man X alive again. He had to win the tournament at all costs. But in order to do that, he would have to kill every Reploid he stepped into the ring with. Which was more important to Zero now? The lives of many strangers, or the life of one friend?
