Oh dear. I'll say it again - oh dear! What a lot of **** this episode was. Excuse me, Chris, but didn't I see this episode before, and wasn't it in Season Five - and wasn't it called 'Kill Switch'? This was such a useless story and it had no redeeming features. To say it was about computers, it didn't have an ounce of logic in it.

Why was Mulder suddenly king of the schoolboy nerds? I thought his hobbies were more sporty (and I'm not necessarily excluding his porn movie watching!). He is never shown playing video games. Basketball, baseball, jogging, swimming. These are Mulder's pasttimes - or sleeping on the settee. I didn't like this man who was agreeing with everything that the Little Testosterone Boys around him were saying. I was appalled.

Next - how come he was so stupid as to go off and risk his life, when he knew that Matreya (spelling?) had just cut off the hands of the King Player, the games inventor? Why did Mulder think he could beat her? Macho aggression again. And where could he vanish to? And if he had vanished, so much so that Scully was worried about him - how come she just walked through a door and there he was? If he was in danger, why not both of them back out through that same door? The game can't have disappeared or the access to it, because Scully found it easily enough.

Then the worst thing at all: no explanation of how a digital creation could have done so much physical damage to a human. It was hardly VR, really, cos you couldn't actually touch a digitally created person in there. Her gun and sword were figments yet for some reason they weren't. Scully didn't even have a good sceptical explanation for us. OK I know it was an XF so not everything is explained - but I wish at least *something* could be.

"Holy Toledo" - this was bad. And Mulder was wrong: that *wasn't* entertainment!
