When I look at his expression, it just hit me--he not only is worried but also seems to know that he will be going with the aliens. That's why it's so important to find the ship. It's almost like his alien talents are being turned on again but without all the noises--like his body has learned to adjust and filter out the sounds he doesn't need to hear. He obviously wants to protect Scully--her health is on his mind and MAYBE just MAYBE he knows she is pregnant? He doesn't want her to be abducted by the aliens--the syndicate taking her was bad enough, so maybe that is why he so willingly went with (or was called to) the aliens. Love the picture!
