This story made hardly any sense to me. My initial thoughts that it was about time travel persisted, even though I sussed out that this was not really the case. The strange phenomenon was caused by a mysterious vortex. What was it and why was it? I would like someone to tell me what it was all about. When Mulder asked the question, were he and Scully too old, I wondered – too old to do what? They weren’t effected by the vortex cos they never ended up underneath it! I’m probably making it too simplistic. It was like telekinesis amongst adolescents gone mad. Hmmm, I liked it better than ‘Hungry’, but that was because at least M & S were in it more this time, and Mulder gave us some good quips.

M: “OK, but bear with us cos we’re old and stupid”

M: “Wow – you must be her lawyer”

M: “I’ll show you my theory if you’ll show me yours”

And I noticed a blooper, too. The caption at the head of the show said ‘Pittsfield, Virginia. 11.49 am’. Well, where I come from, 11.49am is just before mid-day – and this scene took place in the middle of the night. Whoops, did they got their a.m.s mixed up with their p.m.s

So, I’m not overly impressed with this ep. I suppose duds are inevitable, but what I like is how DD and GA do their utmost, sometimes with sub-standard material. It only takes them having a joke or two or a bit of amusing innuendo and it raises a dull episode a few notches. They tried to do it here, but it wasn’t enough to make it memorable. David Amann – back to the keyboard, my friend.
