Subject: Clothes maketh the Mulder
In reply to: detoured says raising hand 's message, "Snake phobia person right here!" on 13:34:37 01/31/01 Wed

Hi Det. An idea was given to me, re the clothes, that DD has made demands about his dull suit wardrobe. I suppose that could be the case, but I should have thought it was inappropriate for the Bureau's agents to be seen without jackets and ties. I wouldn't go so far as to say Mulder was deliberately being disrespectful (he is too gracious and polite for that) but if AD Skinner saw Mulder dressing down like that, he might have something to say!

I didn't realise you had a problem with snakes. For me that kind of thing is more nose-screwing-up distaste than fear.

I don't buy the idea that Scully wasn't bothered by the snakes as indicating any awareness of her supposed immortality. I don't know if that was a serious suggestion, but we have no evidence that Scully thinks of *herself* in that way - have we? I thought she was fairly bothered by The Wriggling Ones. Oops sorry, didn't mean to remind you of their swarming scaliness slithering in an enclosed space! ;-)
