I'm not completely rendered helpless when I see them but they do freak me out a bit. I had a hard time just getting through this the first time. When I saw the previews the previous week I couldn't help thinking of Indiana Jones famous line, "Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?"

I thought this was an interesing episode, much more so the second time around. I hadn't thought of that particular line in reference to Donnie Pfaster Sig but it seems to me there was another line that made me wonder if Scully was thinking about that incident to. Can't remember what it is now though. Maybe we are just desparate for the continuity that the show often lacks so we look for any indication.

What I did wonder was whether the fact that the snakes weren't realy bothering Scully was because of the whole 'Scully is immortal' story thread that may or may not mean anything in eps lke Clyde Bruckman and Tithonus.

I wondered about Mulders strange clothing choices too. And some people from that part of the country were a bit offended by it. They thought it seemed like Mulder was treating this place just like a hick, hillbilly community so there was no need to dress up.

ITA on the V ending. This ep was pretty serious and I think it may have resonated better without that cheesy ending! I thought the ideas addressed about religion and Mulder's feelngs toward it were intertesting, but being that snakes played such a major part it's definately not a favorite!

Insightful reviews from you both! Can't wait to see how you react to the two parter coming up!
