Subject: DD and GA's writing styles...
In reply to: Islandgirl 's message, "Re: Some strange similarities between The Unnatural and All Things" on 09:22:57 04/24/00 Mon

I thought of another similarity. Actually I saw this on one of my XF mailing lists which I think may have been what started me thinking of other similarities. Someone pointed out that both eps made reference to Scully having a baby (The Unnatural with the biologial clock line and All Things with the David Crosby line). And it was pointed out that that seemed kind of insensitive since Scully can't have kids. But for All Things CC wrote that scene so we can't attribute it to GA. I don't think we can take it too seriously though.

Anyway, on your point about DD and GA not being overly interested in the mytharc or monsters and more on characterization. I think that's partly true (DD did come up with a great story involving the Bounty Hunter) and it could be because they are coming from the viewpoint of being actors. Even though they were writng the eps, acting on the show is stil their primary function. It's what they've done for the past seven years. So I think the motivation of the characters and what makes them tick will surface more in their writing because that's what they have to concentrate on as actors and is uppermost in their mind in portraying Mulder and Scully.
