Actually, I loved the episode. No, it wasn't your traditional XF, but it was a long overdue look into the "inner" Scully, IMO.

I didn't think her wicked, or a bad person for having an affair with a married man. She was very young then. We all make mistakes and do things we regret later in life. And it really wasn't even clear if she knew he was married when the affair started. (I'm no Pollyanna, honest. She probably did know, but it wasn't clear.)

I liked the slo-mo. And her choice of music. Yes, it was more "artsy" than XF eps usually are, but I found that to be a refreshing change. Of course, I wouldn't want all or a lot of the XF eps to be that artsy, but for a change, it was nice, I thought.

The script held my attention and I liked the way things kept tying together and connecting. And it was neat that the blonde girl ended up really being Mulder. I still haven't quite figured the meaning of that out, but it was interesting.

I think the intent was to show the paths not taken, but also to show that the path she did take was the intended one and the best for her. I also liked the closeness she and Mulder had when having their talk.

It never occurred to me until I read the boards that they might have slept together. What I really think happened is she slept on the couch and he went to bed. She got up the next morning, cleaned up and left. Remember, we saw Mulder covering her up with a blanket and it appeared that he intended to leave her there.

Just my thoughts.

DRH :-)
