In my haste I misread your response to our smoking friend. You may think me a mindless rat, but I will admit when I'm wrong, unlike your insolent partner.

It suppose it could be construed that I owe you my life, but I don't see it that way. If one takes into account all of the times I have been centimeters from death only for the tables to turn at the last minute from circumstances out of my control, you would be one on a long list of people to whom I owe my life.

I don't propose that Mulder would "sell himself", as you put it, for the truth, but that won't stop him from being blinded by what he wants to see rather than what is there. That is, after all, why he traveled with me to Russia. It is why he blindly went to the air force base I told him about, not knowing what he would find. It is also why he put his trust in the smoking man to save your life. You do realize, don't you, that he is the one who gave Mulder the means to save you from your cancer? Mulder had no idea what the chip CGB gave him would do to you, but he trusted. So perhaps it is you who owe your life to another. Not to Mulder, but to the man you despise, the smoking man.

I know that your partner says "Trust no one" but he rarely follows his own advice in that department.

Alex Krycek
