Subject: When you watch it again guys, and the patrol car causes Mulder and Harold to hide,
In reply to: kande 's message, "D'oh! NIMMmmmdonuts" on 04:44:46 02/16/00 Wed

look at what they hide behind. Stacks of newspapers at the curb next to the garbage can. Just like they were put out for pickup. And the housing development had been deserted for how long? D'oh! Methinks that was a terrible, alto small, blunder. Ha!

I agree with you two. I didn't particularly like this episode. I didn't hate it, I just won't put it on my favorites list. I was just disappointed with it, esp. after the really strong lead-in ep from last week. Oh, I agree it was beautifully done, the music and photography great, the acting wonderful, etc, etc. And I agree I am so delighted Mulder has his closure, that he chose to believe this is what happened to Sam so he could be free, so he could get on with his life. I am delighted he is happy. I am even delighted Sam didn't have a horrible existence somewhere, tortured or suffering from unknown alien creatures and their tests.

Yes, I even understand the "belief" thing going here with Mulder having to _open_ himself to the "extreme possiblity" _first_ (belief) in order to _accept_ the end of Samantha, (understand) that that's where his personal future lies. His freedom.

But it was really wimpy to me too. Alittle too PG rating for me, except for the ghastly opening teaser. Chris Carter smoking maybe a little too much weed, huh? Yeah, man, lets have Mulder trippin' with the fairies, dude. Hey, and, like we can make, man, one of them Samantha, yeah.. Cool closure, dude.

Right.

Yes, I agree it had the 'hurry up and get done with it' feel to it to get out from under the Sam resolution. It just feels anticlimatic. Like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, you know?

I'm arriving way too late to the game to list my grievances, so it's enough to just say I agree with you two about a lot of what you've said here.

Oh, but I don't believe CSM for a moment.

But I will add it really scares me where
CC might be going with all the spirit, starlight-energy stuff in regards to the aliens.

high fiving
