I vaguely remember that story. Was it about a group of people who were involved in a high stakes lottery and the "winner" got murdered? Hey, that's kind of like Hell Money (which I finally watched)!

That ending to The Monkey's Paw seems about right, only the son didn't get killed in a car accident, he got killed at work. The wife wishes him back to life and the husband wishes him dead again. I don't think they open the door in the story though, but I could be wrong. It's been awhile since I read it.

One of my favorite short stories that I've read was A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift. Have you read that one?
