"The science experiment is working," she whispers. "The ice cubs I liberally dosed with drops of testosterone and estrogen are kicking in!"

DBTL watches with glee as KM and KS fall into each others arms, sobbing hysterically because Kande looked at them both funny. Kande snarls at them from a corner, absent-mindedly twirling strands of long dark hair that has appeared on her back. Rabid gasps as she desperately tries to pluck her excess facial hair in front of the mirror in the bathroom. CW is clutching her head over her knitting as she attempts to remember how to purl. Then she looks up, puzzled, and puts her knitting into the refrigerator. "Where am I?" she queries everyone as they stagger past. "And what am I supposed to be doing here in the kitchen?"

JD, who has not escaped DBTL's diabolical mixing of hormones, is crying into a handkerchief over a chick flick he voluntarily decided to slip into the video player.

"Hee, hee!" DBTL doubles over and rolls with laughter on the floor. Bubba frowns in disapproval and then appears with DBTL's belated birthday cake.

"Ooh chocolate!" all stop what they are doing and crowd 'round the cake. Kande jabs KS with her fork in a vain attempt to butt into line. KS bursts into tears, then rages at her buttinsky sister and tries to ram her head into the bar, abruptly switches moods and tries reasoning instead, and then bursts into tears again.

"Hormones suck," Bubba thinks to himself, once again gloriously grateful that he's alien and above all this.
