I agree that change is a necessity, but I don't believe that the schedule is the issue. I understand that you are not for or against either the block or six period schedule.

My concern is that the school board will take away something that has the potential to be beneficial to the students if utilized correctly. If those teachers who are using half of each period for social and personal purposes would concentrate their time and energy on the classroom Union County would see an improvement in test scores.

I hope that we can see an improved change in the school system. Maybe accountability is a bigger issue than either the schedule or the teachers. Why are the sub-par teachers that you mentioned not reprimanded? Are they being held accountable? What is the school policy for neglecting ones duties?

I would be interested in seeing the number of teachers terminated in the last 2 years and reasons. Can you get that information? I understand that you wouldn't be capable of posting names, but at least we could determine if the school board or any of the leadership has an interest in the education and well-being of our youth.
