Subject: I've got to hand it to Robert Patrick (S9-Audrey Pauley Spoilers)

I'm feeling way too lazy to go the S9 board and wade through all the posts to see if this has been discussed, so I figure I'll just post it here. The Doggett board could always use a little action.

I finally got around to watching Audrey Pauley, just about a week late. And I have to say that I don't believe for one minute that Doggett and Reyes are in love. I think that it's stupid for the writers to try and pull that on us when there are only a few episodes left. I think that pushing a Doggett/Reyes romance on us is a desperate attempt to recreate Mulder and Scully, and is a slap in the face to the viewers to always took the MSR VERY VERY seriously (I shudder to think what Islandgirl would say if she were still watching). I never took the MSR that seriously, but trying to create a DRR is cheap, IMO.

That being said, Robert Patrick really made me believe that Doggett does love Reyes. The man is an incredible actor and I can't believe he's been in so many crappy movies. Every look he gave, every time his voice cracked almost inaudibly during Audrey Pauley, I felt so bad for him because he believed the woman he loved was dying. It was amazing. So even while I was severely annoyed at the fact that the writers are trying to make us want those two to be in love, I was also SO impressed with the work that I enjoyed the episode, and just wanted to give Doggett a big hug and tell him it would be all right. RP made me want Reyes and Doggett to kiss even though it's actually the last thing I want to see in the show!
