My latest theory (Season 8 spoilers)

Okay, if you've read some of my posts on the Season 8 board, you'll know that, IMHO, the whole point of "Per Mannum" was to make Scully *THINK* she was pregnant with an alien/human hybrid (I guess with the assumption that she'd have an abortion if she believed the baby wasn't fully human) when, in reality, she is pregnant with a perfectly normal baby that she and Mulder conceived in the natural manner.
I think all of this goes back to *WILLIAM* Mulder, Fox's father. And it links into an event that a lot of X-Philes have never been able to come up with an even semi-coherent explanation for: CSM shoting Jeff Spender in Season Six. There seems to be an concentrated effort to wipe out any and all progeny of William Mulder.
1.) Samantha is abducted and eventually killed. Her death occurs just around the time when she was reaching the age where it would have been possible for her to get pregnant.
2.) William Mulder is killed. Maybe because, after being divorced from Teena for several years, he was expressing an interest in remarrying, perhaps even starting a second family??
3.) Jeff Spender is killed. I've been operating under the assumption, for a long time, that Jeff was actually the child of Cassandra Spender and William Mulder, making him the half-brother of Fox and Samantha. Maybe something happened during the events of "Two Fathers/One Son" to make CSM share this opinion. Maybe it was really a case of "Two Sons, but only one father"???
4.) Mulder is abducted.
5.) An effort is made to dupe Scully into aborting her baby, because it is also Mulder's baby and will carry the same enhanced DNA that Mulder inherited from his own father.
