• (She had arrived late that morning after a lengthy argument with her parents about the theft of her father's truck the night before, not that her hangover had helped in the least. Nonetheless, every strand of her silky hair was in it's place and her makeup accented flawless features.. she looked as if she had stepped out of an english riding magazine and onto the show grounds in her fawn jodpers and elegant black jacket. She had a lightweight dressage saddle over her arm and the end of a red leadrope in the other hand. Her dark brown eyes were focused on the tall black warmblood gelding that was prancing alongside her, the whites in his eyes showing as he anticipated the show. She looked at least five years older than the five days shy of eighteen she was, which was one of the reasons she fit in so well at the professional level shows she was skilled enough to enter at... plus it didn't help that Daddy was loaded enough to buy her a professional level horse and trainer.) • He glanced over at the girl walking the highspirited gelding, pausing by the fence, one boot crossed over the other as he watched the people go by, his eyes occasionally turning back to her. She was pretty enough but really he was more intrested in the horse then anything else. Made him sad sometimes, seeing the animals wasted in his mind for this kind of showing. • (She paused, laying a gentling hand on the gelding's shoulder as he jigged in place, the pair of them worked in a unison that was unrivaled- had been that way ever since she had rescued him and nursed him and begged her father to buy him for her... he had gotten loose from a neighboring farm and she had found him underweight and ill on their property.. the rest was history. She tied the end of the lead to a ring on the side of a shiny trailer, turning to lay the saddle over the tack box on the ground nearby. The gelding turned his head and nipped at her side and she laughed, pushing at his head affectionately. She was in the middle of brushing out his long silken tail when she felt eyes and looked over, seeing the man by the fence and smiling a little bit, holding his gaze just because she could.) • He cocked his head to the side, pulling the cowboy hat just a little lower on his eyes as he lazed against the fence and just looked around watching people. A smile played on his lips as he caught her eyes, focusing on her for a second. After a moment, boredom finally got to him and he pushed off, ambling over and looking over the horse. "Nice horse." • (She finished end of the gelding's tail and tucked a few strands into the perfect braid at the top, her eyes following the man as he walked over. She smiled at his complement and walked over to her tack trunk, dropping in the comb and pulling out a spray bottle to cement those loose hairs into place. She couldn't help but look at the man as she did so and smiled again after a moment, her grey eyes almost violet in the sunlight.) Do you know someone who is competing? (Girlfriend? Perhaps.. the man was adorable.. granted, not her usual type- and Tyler would have a fit if he knew she was talking to this guy.. but she was getting sick of Tyler and his pushing for sex all the time when she just wasn't ready yet... so she was shopping, sue her. As she watched him she automatically dropped the used spray bottle back into the tack trunk and ran a reassuring hand over the shoulder of the tense horse.) • "Nah, here for the rodeo tomorrow." He stated absently, shrugging his shoulders. There was just no where he would rather be then in the stables, surrounded by the scent of the horse and the feeling of home. He was a country boy no doubt, wasn't good around a lot of people. He got shy and introverted when in crowds, he was best just out in the barn with his horse and some of the animals, occasionally a couple of close friends joining him...   • He smirked a little, running his hand over the horses well muscled shoulder. He was a powerful animal and Josh of course had respect for that. A smile played over his face as he thought of as his own horse. He had a few but Aladdin was his favorite, his companion really. They moved as if they were one person when they were out there roping. Aladdin knew his moves before he did. "He knows a horse lover when he see's one."     • He cocked a brow as he stepped back, letting the man approach the girl. Apperantly, she was a young one, the guy who was now hanging around her looked nothing more then a kid to him. Tipping his hat, he took a step back and ambled back over to the fence to watch what was going on. He would never understand all this pansy schmancy stuff.   • He was over there in a flash as soon as he saw the hooves out of the corner of his eye. Grabbing the reins, he directed the horse to land to the side instead of directly on her skull as he would have if Josh had not been there to steady him. He murmured quietly to the nervous gelding before he leaned down, his arm going behind her back so she could lift her head and draw in air that was needed. • (She had fallen enough to know to lift her arms in case the horse stepped on her, but she was more than grateful for the steadying hands and the moment to collect that Josh had given her. Her eyes focused on him and she blinked a few times, taking a steadying breath before getting to her feet and running her hands over the dusty sleeves of her black jacket. So much for looking good in the arena. She laid a hand to Destin's cheek and soothed him with quiet words, all the while looking at her hero. He might be cute, and quick, and thoughtful.. everything that Trevor wasn't.. but he was a country boy- a rodeo chaser.. and he had no place in her life.) Thanks. (She said politely, taking the reins from him and collecting them, letting out a small laugh.) Trev's friend's don't know anything about respecting a horse's space. She was used to her fathering babying her to the point of utter annoyance and her boyfriend seemed to think she couldn't make a single decision on her own- well, this guy was about to learn that Brooklyn MacAllistor wasn't a woman who took being told what to do by any man for any reason. She was adamant about her decision and had minutes to get into the ring before the showjumping event.. screw the warm up now, thanks for her muscle-headed boyfriend. • He just shrugged, not about to argue with some girl he didn't know. instead, he just played the gentlemen and gave her a leg up, patting the horses hindquarters before he stepped back again, heading back to his now station at the fence, his arms crossed over the top and his head resting on there as he watched people pass him by. • (Content with the fact that the embarassing incident was over, she collected Destin's reins and set him off at a trot, hoping to have him properly warmed up before they were called into the ring. As she put the gelding through his prelim paces in the warm up ring, she found her thoughts drifting back to the way she had felt with the strong arm around her back, and those concerned eyes on hers... the way he hadn't fought with her but allwed her to make her dicision on things. It was comforting and it made her angry with herself for letting her guard down for a moment. When their number was called, however, she was all business and able to put the magnificent gelding through a picture perfect round that had her exiting the ring with a self-satisfied smile on her face.) • He watched them with some slight intrest though he really thought it was all a waste of time he wouldn't say that outloud. He wasn't one to offend people, he would rather just keep things quiet and to himself. He wasn't big into causing drama. They looked nice, that was for sure, but he wasn't really sure what they were accomplishing, this sort of deal wasn't useful for anything...other then to make a horse look a little bit silly, in his mind. • (She got down from the gelding and had him untacked within moments of pulling up alonside the trailer. As she hooked the bridle up into it's carrying bag she realized how dizzy she felt from the heat and took her jacket off. Destin was excited from his win and had built up a white lather around the saddle pad, so she bent down to pick up a few baby wipes from her tack trunk to wipe down the spots- she would hot wash him when they got home later in the evening. For now, he just had to be smooth enough to wear his cool down sheet. She felt as though her eyes kept trying to cross though, and she paused with her hand on Destin's shoulder to take a deep breath. Blinking, she tried to focus her gaze on the gelding's halter tag, but was unable to.. and her last thought was that once again she was going to fall down in front of everyone as she slowly slumped down to the ground, her eyes losing complete focus and her mind going blank.) • He frowned a little as he looked over to her again, spotting her sway. Casually, he pushed off the fence and headed back towards where she was, busting into a sprint when he saw her knee's buckle. This time he was there before she fell just in time to catch her before she fell. With a sigh, he frowned, brushing his hand over her forehead lightly. • (She was unconscious for quiet a long moment, with Destin prancing nervously away from them as Josh grabbed her. When her eyes fluttered, they were misty and unfocused and she let out a groan as her head started to ache. Reaching up, her hand closed around his wrist and she tried to get her balance but ended up having to let him bear her weight. She had pushed herself too hard after her fall and had unknowingly created a much worse problem for herself. .. but her pride had made her unwilling to take his advice earlier.) She needed to just chill out and rest a little bit, not push yourself..." he murmured again, he was so quiet and subtle, not pushy or anything. • (Her gaze was on his eyes, as though they were her only source of comfort for the moment. She had never had anything like this happen to her before.. she had fallen and broken bones, but never felt dizzy and never ever had to allow someone else to be in control of her safety. It unnerved her, but oddly enough she felt safe with this man, with his strong arms around her and his pateint gaze on her.) I've never felt so.. strange. (She said in a very soft voice, one that no one that knew her would recognize coming from Brooklyn.. the strong one, the girl who was always in control of every scene.)
