I've seen maybe two eps of Smallville, so I don't have much to say about it, although the two eps I watched were good.
As far as Stargate goes. . .my husband and son have caught occasional eps of this on late night TV for the past couple of years and now are buying the DVD season sets as they can afford them and I've watched most of the eps with them. However, I'm only up to season three, so my comments are going to be a bit behind the times.
Here's what our family has noticed: the Stargate team reminds us a lot of the NCIS team. In each team you have:
1.) The good-looking gray-haired team leader (Jack on Stargate, Gibbs on NCIS) who says things like "In English, please!" when people spout techno-speak at him and "Ya think?" when people state the obvious.
2.) The person who doesn't quite understand American customs and slang (Teal'c on Stargate, Ziva on NCIS)
3.) The young guy who is very smart and kind of geeky, but still has a lot of women who seem to be attracted to him (Daniel on Stargate, McGee on NCIS)
4.) The woman who is calm and doesn't get rattled easily, although you can tell she sometimes things her male companions are behaving in a somewhat immature way (Samantha on Stargate, Kate on NCIS)
5.) The woman who mostly stays in the lab and "fixes" the other team members when they get hurt (Janet on Stargate, Abby on NCIS)
The only place where this comparison breaks down is that General Hammond of Stargate is not a good doppleganger for either Tony or Ducky on NCIS.
