I tend to agree, BDM. I only started watching the show near the end of season one, and I haven't seen every ep, so I was *just* beginning to be able to identify all the "regulars" when they stopped focusing on the regular cast from season one and started introducing all those new people.
I don't care for Ana Lucia. I agree with the blonde psychologist lady who pointed out that Ana is NOT a good judge of character. She sets herself up as judge, jury and -- in the case of poor Shannon -- executioner, without bothering to find out all the facts or consider other viewpoints.
Did the actors who play Shannon and Boone *ask* to be removed from the cast or was that the producers' decision? It seems like every time I start watching a show lately, there are major cast changes in the second season, right about the time I'm getting to "know" the characters and it's beginning to perturb me. I can understand actors wanting to leave a show after four or more seasons (or, in the case of DD and XF, SEVEN seasons) but I really wish actors who only want to work for a few months on a project wouldn't sign onto TV series.
