SMH, I agree with you that it would have made more sense to leave Terry out of the ep entirely than have her in there for, literally, less than minute. Don could have come in and said something like "David, Terry had to fly home for a family emergency, so I'll need you to work as my partner on this case" and then they could have just left her out completely, rather than having her pop in for such a brief appearance with absolutely no explanation as to why she wasn't working closely with her partner on this particular case.
Detoured. . .I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the issue of whether or not a show can be interesting when it has a virtually all-male cast. For me, it's just not . Yes, that's partially because I'm a major league shipper and always on the lookout for possible romantic entanglements, but mostly it's simply that I'm a woman and I don't enjoy watching shows with a "boys club" type atmosphere.
Here' s my main problem: If the producers wanted to create a retro, 1960s style cop show with an all-male cast -- similar to something like "Hawaii 5-0" or "Dragnet' -- why bother to introduce two strong women characters and feature them prominently in the Pilot ep?? It's kind of a bait-and-switch type tactic. It got a a lot of people (like me) started watching a show that seemed to contain a lot of elements we like -- strong women characters, possible romance between the male and female characters, etc -- and probably put off a lot of people who like all-male shows. It just seems odd that they would start off featuring the women characters prominently, then pretty much drop them from the show.
