Anyone watch the Joan season finale?

What are they going to do? This show is on the maybe yes/maybe no renewal list. They can't start this story and then end the series!
Though I heard the reason they did was to up the ante of the plot in the hopes that it would then get renewed. Ryan Hunter is ultra creepy.
