Yeah, I noticed that Charlie seemed to be flirting with the female CHP officer in last week's episode. While it would defintiely be a lot "easier" for him to get involved with a woman who doesn't bring up all the messy issues he'd have to deal with if his relationship with Amita moved from platonic to romantic (i.e. the CHP officer isn't of another race, isn't from another country and isn't a graduate student at the same university where Charlie is a professor) I kind of hate to see him just take the easy way out when it comes to romantic relationships.
Like I said, it all depends on what you're looking for in a show. I like there to be some shipper potential, but I realize a lot of people don't seek that out or even actively seek out shows where there is no romantic angle. I'm just confused as to why they pushed the UST angle so hard in the early eps if that wasn't the direction they intended to take the series in during the second season.
"DH" and "24" just don't look like they'd be my cup of tea. I keep sneaking in and trying to watch episodes of "Lost" with my hubby and kids, but they say I will cause the show to be cancelled if I watch it during the first season. Also, they get annoyed because I keep asking "Have the doctor and the convict lady kissed yet?" (I'm sure you know who I mean; I haven't been able to put names to the characers yet.) And other offbeat questions like "Has that baby been baptized?" (Okay, that one is more of a "Catholic Mom thing" than a "shipper thing".) And "If that fat guy has been stranded on a desert island for months, shouldn't he have lost some weight by now?"
So I think I will probably catch up on "Lost" this summer and start watching it regularly next season.
