If you noticed, there was no bleeding. The leg was charred so it was possibly cauterized by the explosion. Medically, it is quite possible he could survive if the loss of his leg was the only serious injury sustained.

Will Bud be back? I certainly hope so. If TBTB make this a dream sequence though, I am going to flog them about the head with their own script. I didn't like Dallas the first time it aired (though the possiblity of Harm or Chegwidden emerging from the shower in a towel to indicate that none of this really happened is intriguing).

This is the chance to address the consequences of being in the military in a wartime crisis (though it's only through dramatic license that we see JAG officers in the field). Given that license, I hope Bud returns to show that good guys overcome to be steadfast comedic relief for many more seasons to come. Bud is one of my favorite characters simply because he is a multifacted personality.

Since Roscoe died, veteranss affairs really haven't been addressed on the show.

Live long and prosper Bud!!!!!!!

Naw, Bud isn't dead. As the above poster said, the wound could've been cauterized and the bleeding slowed or stopped. Or else PO Coates isn't that far away, she'll come running, cover the stump and apply a tournique (sp), then call in a copter to med evac. In real life, thousands of Afghans step on mines and live.

After that, it would be nice to think he could stay in the Navy, but, if he is medically discharged he could be a stay at home dad with little AJ while he finishes recuperating, then maybe start up his own little law practice with his disability money. Good thing he's a lawyer and not a boatswain's mate chipping barnacles.

Anybody ever notices that for all the heroics they do, they don't have that many awards? Harm and Mac should have 8 rows of ribbons on their uniforms by now.

Ahhhh, I know, it's a tv show!
