Subject: Steve Perry & the future of Journey

Here's my take on Steve Perry and the future w/ Journey and why I think they will get back together even if it's for a last farewell tour. The new Journey album w/o Steve Perry "Arrival" is not selling as well as Neal Schon had hoped and future albums will probably do the same unless Steve Perry is with them. The new lead singer "Steve Augeri", although a great guy with talent and a wonderful human being is no Steve Perry. I'm not going to bash him because he has the same admiration for Steve Perry as the majority of Journey fans do and he is just living out his dream. The music on Arrival at least 3 or 4 songs are good, but not in the same class of the great Journey tunes that we all love. Once Neal Schon realizes this and hopefully he will, Journey will welcome back Steve Perry with a few conditions. The number one condition is that Neal has the final say of who's going to be in the line-up (Ross Valory, Steve Smith, etc…). Even Steve Perry admitted on VH1 BTM that he would do things different if he had the chance to do it again (Referring to his decision to oust members Ross Valory and Steve Smith). As far as his comment that he didn't feel part of the band…well I believe there is some truth to that even though most of the members of the band have a hard time understanding that because of Steve Perry's control and influence about the direction of Journey's music. I'm sure there has to be some reconciliation on Steve Perry's part also but not to hamper his gifted ability to carve out classic tunes from the talents of Journey. Steve Perry is getting older and wiser and hopefully is taking good care of himself with his golden voice well rested so the time is coming near for the reunion. I believe Steve Perry wants this to happen and hopefully Neal, Jonathan, and Ross also want this to happen. Right now, they will ride with the current line-up (w/ SA and Dean) and see how far it goes before they realize they need Steve Perry to bring them back to height of their success. This is my opinion and even if it's for a one-time deal where they can play all their great songs and package it on a DVD similar to Fleetwood Mac's "The Dance", that would be something that all Journey fans could treasure forever….
