So, I'm guessing this guy is Christian Tietje...
"Winemaker CHRISTIAN TIETJE ...is passionate about wine: making it, drinking it and bringing people together to enjoy it. Chris learned to love balanced, food-driven wines as an aspiring young chef in Boston. In 1990 he moved to San Francisco, determined to pursue his passion and become a winemaker. He fell head over heels for old vine Zinfandel, and began planning for bigger things."

I smiled at one point during this video when Chris stressed the importance of having a "cooper" you can rely on! :)
Ofcourse, by saying "cooper" ...
Chris was referring to a "barrel maker" ...

I worked for four years in the "lower ranks" of the food service / catering industry for several different chefs at a local university.
*** actually, I was their "gopher" ...
assigned the task of setting up and clearing the banquet rooms - helping them to "plate" the meals for each guest - and, working as a server from time to time.
And, I developed a great amount of respect and appreciation for the chef's ability to create "from scratch" marvelous events centered around the dining experience!

My introduction to wines, and the ways they are used to accompany the food with which they are served began just recently however! :)
But, we're never too old to learn I've been told!

Browsing through the Undergraduate Catalog for MTSU, I found a course entitled "Wine Science and Industry" ...
One of the pre-requisites for this course is Chemistry!

Here's part of the course description ?! ...
"The science and marketing of wine, including grape production, fruit processing, and fermentation technologies."

Anyways ...
to me, it's kind of interesting!
Thanks for listening!

Thanks for the video clips, it is fun to see more of the winery and the processes. As they said a lot of people are making wines now. Iowa's wine industry has really grown, I guess I'll have to go visit some of those wineries until I can visit 4 vines. I worked outside of San Francisco one summer and went up to Napa Valley, I'd love to get back to CA and see more of it. Maybe someday....
