Generally I don't think biology should be a factor - nothing annoys me more than a so-called expert on TV saying that because you are a man you must exhibit certain tendencies, and vice versa. True, the two genders do (if viewed on a general level) have identifiable traits, but relating that to individuals is always dangerous. Ability and gender are two separate issues.....if a man applies for a job in midwifery, he should get it if he is qualified and would be good at the job - just as a female naval officer should be given command of a ship if she has the drive, the right training and the ability to command one (in fact, I think the Royal Navy did that a while back when it appointed its first female Captain).

If women are, as you put it NOVA, in fields of work usually the reserve of men, all well and good - if they can do the jobs, they deserve to be there. However, in answer to your second question no, I do not believe equality has been reached. Steps have been taken and women are starting to get into the higher level jobs that for so long have been banned, and legal measures are helping to stamp out discriminatory practice, but there is still a ways to go before we see women truly on an equal footing with men in the workplace.
