One of the successes with Digimon (Pokemon, Whatevermon) is that the main energy flowed over from the kids. We were experinceing it with them for the first time. The same idea is working with Armada. Hasbro figures kids will like the slightly older boys and girl because they represent the viewer seeing TFs for the first time.

The reason I think everyone is in an uproar over this is that when G1 came out the main focuse of the story was on how the Autobots and the Decepticons got to deal with earth and the human inhabitance. Same can be said of RID which has the robots show up earlier in the series. Armada, my guess laid the kids on thick during the movie so that later they can focus more on the Transformers, without having to really go and define the human characters as much.

Think about this. When you hear Spike what's the first thing that pops in your mind? Teen that wants to help the TF. (And no I wasn't thinking of Whinny.) Humans always take a back burner to the TFs, and normally that's because they were focusing the story from the view of the TFs rather then that of the humans. This time it's the opposite factor, it's the humans and Minicons that will take center stage.

I hope this all makes sense, as I'm typing while my hands are growing cold from the air conditioner in the lab where I'm typing from.

DS
