Actually, I feel that now there are more action-oriented cartoons with plots that can satisfy adult viewers, beacause of the anime being brought over here now by Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network has brought over some great Anime series(some of which are for older audiences) as well like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, The Big O, Dragon Ball Z, and Gundam.

There are also some good series being made over here. Like you said, Justice League is pretty much the successor to the Batman, Superman, Beyond, cartoons. X Men Evolution is pretty damn good and atleast as good as the old XMen Cartoon.

As for what's coming, The New HeMan show has potential. It had Very good animation, but unfortunately is currently suffering from horrible dialogue. I am looking Forward to Mainframe's Spiderman series. If the rumor is true that Bendis is writing it, then I think it will be fantastic.
