I've been listening to the breaking news about the terrorist attack in Bali on Saturday night, and words cannot describe the terrible anguish I've been feeling.

2 nightclubs bombed.
187 people dead.
309 people injured.
113 people in hospital.
220 people missing.

During the last 38 hours or so, RAAF forces have been rushing in and evacuating people from the nearest airport in Denpasar to Darwin and Perth, where some hospitals are working to near full capacity.

I've been holding back a lot of tears while listening to the unfolding news, and I'm continuing to keep my eyes and ears peeled to television, internet and radio news sources for more updates. For anyone interested in online coverage, you can check out the Sydney Morning Herald's page here:

For the first time in my living memory, Australia has felt the awful sting of a terrorist attack -- aimed primarily at a nightclub that was full of Australian and other foreign tourists.

Watching news footage of Aussie families searching through hospitals and morgues for their missing loved ones was just heart-wrenching. My thoughts go out to all the victims and their loved ones.

Prime Minister John Howard has already declared this Sunday 20th to be a national day of mourning.
