Subject: Review on Spider-man the movie *Spoilers ahead!*

Spider-man: Tobey McGuire, William Defoe, Kristian Dunsts, James Franco, Rosemary Harris, (and I forgot who plays uncle Ben)

Where do I start. Okay lets start at the very begining with the credit. A cool new opening for Marvel, an entire sequence of someone flipping quickly though a comic book. The animation for the title sequece was excellent, and had the right type of atmospher. We get to see tons of spiderwebs that imply a number of things, including the Green Goblins head. Also you get to see a few quick images of Spiderman crawling on a wall. All this cuts to an opening sequence where Peter (Toby M.) is chasing after the bus, and Mary Jane (Kristan Dunst) tells the driver (who seems to be having fun with this) to pull over. He does so to let Peter get on and the poor boy gets tripped by the jerks in school.
Cut to Columbia University, and Harry (James Franco) and his father Norman (William Defoe, with caps on his teeth making him look like some sleazy used car salesman) pulls up to the Univisty in a Limo. This bothers Harry as he wants to be known as any other kid. He introduces Peter, who is there with the rest of the class on a feild trip, to Norman, who says Harry talks a lot about Peter.
Cut inside, and we are treated to a leture on Spiders, if the woman wanted to be any duller I don't think she could have been. Anyway point is Peter gets knocked about by a few bullies, then Mary Jane, in a cute sequence, hams it up infront of the camera for Peter. As if on cue he gets bit by a spider (a black widow as it is) and a large lump grows on his hand. Mean while back at Osborn Industrys Norman is trying to get the General of the Army to check out his latest developments. One of the Scientest wants to take the formula back to normal, and Norman (who seems okay at this time) is disapointed when the General tells him that if they can't prove the formula works then the funding is being pulled.
Peter gets ill, and falls asleep on the floor of his bedroom, while Norman tests out the OZ drug and wind ups going nuts! I have to Say Defoe was perfect for this part. When Peter wakes up he finds he doesn't need his glasses, and all of a sudden, he's got a six pack! (Note to guys, when bitten by a spliced spider, it appears that you not only get a good phisque, but you also get your 20/20 sight back. ;P) He rushes out of the house, promising to paint the house with Uncle Ben, and over hears a fight between MJ and her family. (This changed from the fact that she was living with her Aunt Anna in the oringal comic.) Peter tries to work up the nerve to talk to her, but it doesn't come out right and her friends swoop in with their car and take her to school. Once more Pete's gotta chase down the bus, but it doesn't work out, and he discovers that he is growing hooks out of his fingers.
At school Pete gets into a fight with Flash Thomas, a very cool sequence with the sfx, and winds up kicking the bullies backside. (Audience was cheering all the while) Peter then rushes out of the place, and winds up by a building. He learns he can climb walls, and that he can shoot webs! (Funny stuff with the webbing) He tries to swing, and winds up crashing into a building. When he gets home he remembers he was supose to help his uncle. He takes out the trash, and MJ is outside upset. Folks are arguing again. They chat, and Flash comes by with a prowler (his new set of wheels.)
