One thing that can be really annoying is how companies will often register a name and not use it. This often happens when a company registers a name that they're thinking of using, then some time later down the track they change their minds.

The problem with this is that it stops any other company from using that name, which is a real waste.

There needs to be laws in effect to prevent companies from squatting on name licenses. I've heard that the US Supreme Court is currently trying to put certain laws in place to prevent people from squatting on internet domain names (which could explain why certain prominent TF sites such as Tengu's have been disappearing) -- but it's only been a rumour for me.

With such laws in place, any registered/licensed name could expire say after a year or so if the company has not produced a product or service using that name. In other words, use it or lose it.
